Jeju Island which is found just off the southern shore of South Korea, is famous for its beautiful scenery, rich culture and relaxed environment. 'Hawaii of Korea' is what Jeanette Island is largely called and its lovely scenery, pristine beaches and strong traditions make it a place of tasteful charm different from anywhere else. Thanks to ancient volcanoes, today the island features Hallasan Mountain, the top spot in South Korea's height chart. The inactive volcano is entirely surrounded by forest and meadow and this draws both nature fans and adventurers to use the hiking routes that show off splendid views. Moreover, the Manjanggul Lava Tube, another point of interest on Jeju Island, was granted UNESCO World Natural Heritage status, showing amazing rock formations and explaining the area's volcanic history.
Along the coast, Jeju offers some of the most picturesque beaches in the nation, including Hamdeok, Hyeopjae, and Jungmun, where turquoise waters meet soft white sands. Many people enjoy swimming, paddleboarding and having a tranquil sunset walk in these areas. Such waterfalls as Cheonjiyeon, Jeongbang and Cheonjeyeon which have ancient legends tied to them, make their way down forested cliffs and add richness to the island's culture. Still, Jeju's beautiful nature is just one reason it is special. Because the island is semi-autonomous and cut off from the mainland, its culture is unlike the culture found elsewhere. It is most noticeable among the Haenyeo, who go without breathing equipment to pick shellfish from the ocean. Many of these elderly women who are over 60 represent strong and independent characters who have great respect for nature. UNESCO listed their way of life as an Intangible Cultural Heritage to show how important it is around the world.
The delicious food such as Jeju black pork, abalone porridge and tangerines, makes the island even more attractive. A lot of the local dishes here are seafood-based and those dishes such as grilled hairtail fish and rice cooked with sea urchins, are both tasty and traditionally connected. As well as its unique traditions and delicious food, Jeju offers us wellness opportunities, thanks to many resorts and healing centers that focus on relaxation in peaceful surroundings. Because the island is calm, beautiful and full of culture, it attracts visitors looking for peace and tranquillity.
Well known both locally and globally, Jeju Island continues to attract people who want to experience nature, culture and tradition together. Since Jeju symbolizes Korean traditions and the environment, it remains a lovely place to visit, giving more than only a tourist attraction.
